[press ASSOCIATION.] DISCOVERY OF SILVER.
Hobart, August 10. A rich discovery of silver ore has been made at Mount Zeehaan, and an assay of a quantity of stone which was brought into town gave a yield at the rate of 580oz of pure silver to the ton.
THE MELBOURNE EXHIBITION. Melbourne, August 10. The attendance at the Exhibition averages 7000 daily.
THREATENED MINERS' STRIKE.
Newcastle, August 10. The employees of several of the principal mines have voted in favour of going out on strike, but the final result of the voting will not be known till tomorrow. The masters have suggested another conference with the men, to take place to-morrow morning.
