NAVAL MANOEUVRES.
LIVERPOOL ATTACKED.
SUCCESSFUL DEFENCE. [press ASSOCIATION.]
London, August 9. The naval manoeuvres are now proceeding off Liverpool. To-day H.M.s. Devastation and Invincible attacked the city, but -were repulsed and captured by the defending force.
London, August 10.
In the naval manoeuvres off Liverpool the attacking squadron was under the command of Admiral Tryon, who claims that the tactics employed would have resulted in the capture of that city.
