A FAMILY POISONED.

A sad catastrophe recently occurred at Malvern in a house lately taken by a Mr. Dick for his mother, three children, and Mrs. Leishman, a friend of the family. Mr. Dick, who was a widower, recently married again, and was spending the honeymoon in Sydney. The live slept in one room, the chandelier of which was being pulled down, and it is supposed that through an insufficiency of water in the tube the gas escaped, rendering the inmates unconscious. They must have lain in this state about "JO hours before Mrs. was able to escape arnd give the alarm. When the neighbours threw the house open William Percy Dick, 11 years old, was found dead. Ethel, 15, Lillie Maud, 9, and Mrs. Dick, about 60 years of age, are all in a critical condition, and only one is likely to recover; that is Mrs. Leishman, who is also about 60. The doctors report that the youngest child, and Mrs. Leishman are improving. There are no hopes of the recovery of the others.
