RIFLE MATCHES.
On Saturday Last the members of tho Gordon Rifles met at the Mount Eden range, and a handicap sweepstakes was arranged between the members of the corps at the following ranges, viz., 200, 300, and 500 yards, five shots at each range. The conditions were that all members of the first team should start from scratch, and that the others should be allowed additional shots at the 300 and 500 yard ranges, instead of any number of points being allowed as before. There were four prizes. Some very good scores were made, and there was also a good attendance. The following are the twelve highest scores :— 200 yds. 300 yds. 500 yds. Tl. Lieut. .1. 15. King, 2 shots 19 17 8 44 An open sweepstakes was also fired at the same time, members of the Gordon Rifles and any others on the range being at liberty to enter ; no handicap allowed.
