At Boon yesterday the Union S.S. Co.'s Tarawera took her departure for Melbourne via Southern ports, with a general cargo and a number of passengers. The lona sailed during the forenoon for the Barrier. Yesterday morning the barque Presto was taken up the harbour to the Sugar Works, where she is to discharge her coal. She will afterwards put out her bone dust at the Railway Wharf. At Messrs. Cochrane and Co.'s auction mart, Mr. W. Errington's steam launch Alert was vesterday offered for sale, and found a purchaser in 'Mr. E. Harrow, of Takapuna, at the price of £200, and he has entered into a contract for lifting it from the sea to Lake Takapuna, where it is intended to be used. From Timaru and other East Coast ports, the s.s. Omapere is timed to arrive here on the 15th instant. In another column is an announcement calling for tenders for the repairing of the s.s. Chelmsford, recently stranded and damaged on the Opotiki bar. < The Government steamer Stella, which arrived yer'erday about one ■ clock from the.
