THE ROTORUA SANATORIUM.
[BY TELEGRAPH.OWN CORRESPONDENT.] Rotorua, Monday. The sanatorium grounds under Mr. Malfroy's charge have much improved lately. On going my rounds there to-day I came across that gentleman busily engaged in preparing samples of medicinal water for shipment to the Melbourne exhibition. Two ten-gallon casks are used. One sample is from the spring which feeds the Blue Bath, and the other from the Priest's. Great care and precaution is used to prevent the evaporation of the gases. Whilst there my attention was directed to a curious and wonderful natural sight, one which clearly demonstrates the strength and value of the Sulphur Vapour Bath, which is situated inside the Blue Bath Pavilion. On lifting one or two of the flooring planks, the underside presented a most beautiful and surprising appearance. Bright yellow chrome crystals of the purest sulphur had within a short time thickly coated the flooring. The fumes which permeate this bath are most powerful, curing the most obstinate of skin diseases in a very short time. The bath is also very ingeniously constructed; as the patient at will can modify its strength, and by pulling down a lever change the fumes into the Blue Bath. 1 firmly believe that under medical surveillance a few trials of this vapour bath will be found much more beneficial than immersion in any of the others. A decided change for the better is noticeable in the management of the Hospital department.
