DUNEDIN FROZEN MEAT COMPANY.
[BY TELEGRAPH.PRESS ASSOCIATION.] Dunedin-, Wednesday. The annual report of the New- Zealand Refrigerating Co. shows a nett profit, after allowing for depreciation, of £1903, out of which the directors recommend a dividend of S per cent., leaving a balance of £383 to be carried forward. 84,704 sheep and lambs and 275 cattle were frozen at Burnside, and 62,887 sheep and lambs and 185 cattle at Oaraaru ; besides this 14,590 sheep were slaughtered and frozen elsewhere. This was only about half the capacity of the works, and the directors recommend their successors to consider the question of reducing the freezing charges. The owners of Elderslie and Fifeshire nave reduced the charges to l£d for current voyages, and j notwithstanding this they are under charter j at Hd. It is believed freight will nob exceed that of the regular liners. |
