THE GOLDFIELDS.
MINE MANAGERS' REPORTS.
Cambria. — The quartz from the winze on the main reef in the intermediate level will be all through the battery to-morrow. I will crush the picked stone on Monday, and retort on Wednesday. The winze on the main reef in the intermediate level east holed through to No. 3 level to-day, just over the mouth of the cross-cut, that was put through the reef at No. 3 level by the Darwin Company. I will now start a leading stone west on the reef and crosscut to No. 7 winze on Monday next. Trenton. — The contractors have sunk the shaft 5 feet 6 inches during the week; this makes the total depth of the shaft 359 feet. The country in the bottom is a good deal softer and whiter. The contractors have not made as much progress this week as I would have liked, this being partly owing to them putting in timber; still I think they will make better speed from this to the finish. 1 New Fearnought.— distance of 8 feet has been driven on the hangingwall stringers from the winze. The main stringer is from 2 inches to 4 inches in width. Excellent mineral and colours of gold have been observed when breaking down. By driving from the winze I find the main stringer is the same as was intersected _ in the crosscut. Have discontinued work in the winze, and have commenced driving on it from the crosscut.
