[by. TELEGRAPH. —speciaI correspondent.
: "' ' " Wellington, Monday. Mb. . Goldie has forwarded the offer of Messrs. Ashcroft and Co., for the electric lighting of the city of Auckland, to the City Council,' on the terms I have already named, £5 10s per lamp. Part of the conditions are that the City Council shall give a central site for the erection of the plant, so that the Council can take it over on terms of arrangement if desired, and would then have everything on their own land ; also, the'right of supplying private parties, as given by the Municipal Corporations Act, Amendment Act 1887. Mr. Ashcroft leaves for Auckland in about three weeks, and hopes to come to some definite arrangement with the Auckland Corporation.
