Messrs. Hunter and Nolan's Weekly Report. Horsefeed, grain, seeds, etc.: There has been an ample supply and steady demand, without much alteration in value, maize being in excess of requirements had a slightly downward tendency. Horses: Dulness has again characterised the market; the supply has not been large, and of indifferent description. The demand was slack at the previous week's values; the average number were entered for sale by auction at the Durham yards on Friday. The competition lacked animation, most of the lots were placed at the previous week's values. There remained an unsatisfied demand for good hacks, one finding a purchaser at i £20, and good upstanding, strong, young horses would liave found ready purchasers. Wool, hides, and skins : Average quantities were pitched at the Durham yards; a brisk demand existed, anrtTihere was an. upward tendency for heavy ox hides and well woolled skins. We quote : Heavy ox, from 4}d to 5d per lb ; medium, 3+d to 4£d ; cow, 2fd to 3Jd; calf skins, 4jdto 5d per lb; sheep skins, from 2s 5d to 6s lOd each; tallow, 12s to 14s per cwt. Cattle : Dairy stock were not so plentiful as on the previous week; stores were sufficiently numerous for requirements, and were in request at a slight advance in value; fat beasts were scarcely so numerous as usual, but prices did not advance. The number of all descriptions yarded at Newmarket, on Tuesday, was limited; but there was a good muster at Pukekohe on Wednesday. There was no noteworthy alteration in the value of dairy cows; for stores, particularly young steers, an advance was given, and for fat beasts the previous week's values were barely maintained, and fat steers ranged from £4 10s to £7; cows, from ,£2 10s to £4 7s 6d; ox beef, from 13s to 17s per 1001b; cow, 10s to lis. A useful pair of ponies brought £15 10s; medium draught stock, from £6 to £10 5s ; a covered waggon, £13 10s; springcart, £10. On Tuesday hides and skins were pitched in full numbers.
