V [Before Thomas Jackson, R.M.] IlltrKating A Dog.Edward Wilson was charged with illtreating a dog by cutting it with a shingling hammer. Pleaded not guilty. ■ Mr. Franklin for defence. William i Forbes deposed that defendant forcibly threw the shingle hammer at the dog,; and the hammer struck the sinews of the dog's leg and cut some of them. Defendant admitted throwing the hammer at the dog, but denied that the sharp edge of the hammer in any way touched the dog. Evidence was also given to show the quarelsome tendencies of the dog. Case dismissed without costs. ;
Assault. —Robert Maxwell charged with assaulting Pepa Te Wereroa. _ As the evidence disclosed the case of title to land, the case was not proceeded with. Judgment Summons. — Coulthard Bros, v T. G. Sandes, £19 19s 6d, judgment summons. Defendant did not appear. Ordered to pay by instalments of 30s a month, or in default 7 days. Dr. Rowley v H. R. Clayton.—Claim, £4 4s. Defendant did not appear. Judgment for plaintiff with costs, 17s 6d. Dr. Rowley v G. Tiiorf.—Claim, £3. Judgment for plaintiff with costs, £1 2s 6d. Woollams v Young.— £3 12s 6d. By consent, judgment for £1 4s 5d and costs, 6s.—[Own Correspondent.]
