WIND AND RAIN.
[BY TELEGRAPH.— ASSOCIATION.] Dunedin, Tuesday. Heavy rain, accompanied by a strong north-east wind, has prevailed throughout the whole day, and continues this evening. The departure of the Wakatipu for the North is delayed in consequence. A slip has occurred on the Northern Railway about Purakawai. The ongine of the North express train was thrown oft' the line, but no one, it appears, was hurt. Later. The train despatched to fetch in passengers by the Northern express train reached town at a quarter to eleven o'clock. It appears the express train was going dead slow when a slip occurred, and the engine, strange to say, fell towards the bank, and was a good deal damaged. One closed waggon also left the line. The passengers were not greatly alarmed.
