W., with high cross sea, lasting to arrival. Yesterday evening the s.s. Manapouri sailed for Sydney with a large number of passengers and a quantity of general cargo Her departure was witnessed by a great crowd of spectators who had assembled to bid farewell to departing friends. In consequence of severe weather in the Bay of Plenty, the s.s. Stafl'a was not able to leave Opotiki for Auckland yesterday. Her departure from Auckland is therefore postponed till Thursday. Yesterday evening the s.s. Wellington Bailed as usual for Whangarei, having a large number of passengers and & general cargo.

The brigantine Ryno was yesterday forenoon hauled alongside the Railway Wharf to discharge her cargo of copra into the barque Mercia for London. Yesterday morning the Harbour Board dredger was docked for overhaul. The negotiations that have been pending for some time between the Seamen's Union and Messrs. Donald and Edenborough concerning the employment of Kanaka labour on board thes.s. Richmond, have terminated in the owners of the vessel agreeing to discharge their crew of islanders and substitute Unio'i seamen. Th} schooner Waiwera came in from the Thames in ballast, and was yesterday afternoon cleared out for Whangarei, where she will load coal. At the Railway Wharf yesterday the s.s. Richmond was very busy taking in a large cargo of general merchandise, live stock, etc., and was a full ship before dark. She was cleared out at the Customs, and is to sail at eight o'clock this morning, taking about a dozen passengers.

PORT OF ONEHUNGA

The Rowena crossed the Hokxanga bar yesterday morning, and may be looked for in the Manukau this morning. In consequence of a severe gale on the West Coast, the s.s. Gairloch will not be able to leave Waitara for Onehunga until this morn inc.
