Shortly before six yesterday morning a horse attached to a milk-cart belonging to Mr. Lennard bolted down Newton Road, and ran into the window of Mr. \\ alsh s grocery shop. Considerable damage was done, and the shaft of the cart was broken. A Palmerston North bankrupt, named Charles Henry, was yesterday arrested by Detective Herbert, on warrant, and lodged in gaol under section 164 of the Bankruptcy Act, 1883. Henry appears to have been adjudged a bankrupt in Palmerston North some little time ago. Under pretence of business he went to Wellington, where he engaged a passage for his wife and family to Sydney, and one for himself to Auckland. It is believed he intended also to leave on the steamer this afternoon.
