A REMARKABLE CURE.

TO THE EDITOR.

Sir, —As the public mind is in a very disturbed state just now with regard to Madame and Dr. Sot's proceedings in the Golden Chariot, I take the liberty, unsolicited by any person, to relate what Madame Duflofc did for me. As nearly all the old hands in Auckland know me well, and know I have been a sufferer for a long time from my eyes being almost totally blind, and as my friends Know, I have notbeen able to work at my trade for the past four years. As far back as eighteen years ago I was treated by one of the leading doctors here for my eyes. Though very clever in other respecta, ho failed to make out what was the matter, and others who arrived here from time to time .were also tried, bub all I could; get out of them was the nerves of the eye were a fleeted, and it would take time. It did, with a vengeance,' and got from bad to worse. When allopathy failed I tried homoeopathic treatment, and got temporary relief, only to get bad again ; in fact every remedy I could hear of I gave a trial to, but all to no purpose. , Hearing of the cures said to be effected at the Golden Chariot, I thought I would see if they covld do anything for me, so on Monday, June 25, I got up on the Chariot, and Madame asked me what was the matter ? I told her. She said, Are you knownto the people here?" I said " Let me ask anyone in the crowd who knows me to hold up his hand." On appeal to the vast assemblage if they knew me, quite a forest of hands were held up, and Madame replied, "You seem to be well-known." She then examined my eyes, and told me I was a bad case and could not see, but she would make me see, and invited any person present who doubted to come on the chariot and see for themselves. Madame then proceeded to operate," taking from under the lid of my eye some-, thing like a threadworm, about li inches long. The operation did not cause me the slightest pain, and lasted about 5 minutes, and in 30 minutes from the time of the commencement of the operation I was able from the chariot to recognise many old familiar aces in the crowd. I have continued to improve ever since, and at the present time can see very distinctly for a' long distance, looking up at objects at great height without the slightest pain. My friends say, perhaps it is only a temporary benefit, and you will be worse than ever. My answer is, I am better than ■ I have been for years, and .Madame Dufiot's skilful treatment has done it for me. 1 would have publicly thanked madame, but my heart was so overjoyed at my recovering that which I deemed lost for ever that my tongue failed to. give expression to my, gratitude, and I now but feebly express the debt of gratitude I owe, and that the Giver of all good will reward and prosper Madame Duflot, is the earnest and grateful prayer of John- Clifford, Carpenter. Edinburgh-street, Newton. ■-
