REPEAL OF THE THERMAL SPRINGS

ACT.

Wellington, Wednesday. I learn on excellent authority that the Government contemplate the purchase of the lands of the Rotorua township from the natives • also that it is their intention to repeal the Thermal , Springs Act next session. No doubt steps will be taken to secure the public rights of the Thermal Springs and all the principal features of the Wonderland, but with regard to the rest of the territory covered by the Act, some seven hundred thousand acres, the intention is, I believe, to let it be thrown open for settlement.
