FOOTBALL.

ARRIVAL OF THE NATIVE TEAM. Yesterday morning the team of native footballers, who are touring the colony under the leadership of Mr. J. A. Warbrick, and intend to proceed to England and play a series of fixtures there, arrived in Auckland from Napier by the s.s. Te Anau. They were met on the wharf by the officers of the local Rugby Union and other footballers, and escorted to Gallagher's Imperial Hotel, at which favourite athletic rendezvous they purpose to stay during their sojourn in Auckland. The players 'ire an athletic body of young men, of splendid physique, and are apparently in tha pink of condition. They average in weight about l'2st 41b. The names of those v ho arrived by the Te Anau are: J. A. Waibrick (Hohepa Mokomaiarangi), W. Warbi ick (WireinuKaipara), Alf. War brick (Tarawera), Arthur Warbrick (Hala Relni), J'Veil. Warbrick (Whereri Paerau), 1). Grge (Rewi Maniapoto), T. Ellison (Rangi Wahia), G. Williams (Rangi Wi), W. W nyanl (Tukapuna), G. Wynyard (Rangito.o), Wi Karawia, Wirema Nehua, Ihimai.'a, Taare, R. Taiaroa, Anderson, Stewai o, and R. Maynard. Their number will be supplemented in Wellington by Le< and Rennie, and probably A. Webster will cast in his lot with them in Auckland. The programme of matches to be gone thrjugh in the colony by the team, is that t'.ey play Auckland on Saturday next, at Fpsom ; leave for Wellington on Monday, playing Nelson en route on Wednesday jf next week, and Wellington on the foil jwing Saturday ; from Wellington, Chrisjcliurch, Dunodin, and perhaps Timaru, .nil be visited in turn. The team is a real'y strong one, and from the remarks of seve.al of the members, they are pretty con lid jnt of giving a good account of their jelves both in New Zealand and the home country. The match between them and the Auckland "reps." on Saturday will be a very close one, though the Auckland team is not yet chosen, and its strength cannot therefore be accurately gauged. The Selection Committee meet this afternoon to make their final choice, and the vexed question of who shall be put full-back will be probably settled by 0. Madigan, who has quite recovered from the injury to his shoulder, and is in first-class form, being picked to till the vacant position. °
