Wellington, Monday. The amount of the accepted tender for rebuilding tho Opera House is £6655. DuNedin, Monday. At Skippers, Jno. Martin was nearly burned to death in his tent. He and Edwards, his mate, had procured a gallon of whisky, and they drank till they became helpless. Edwards appears to have endeavoured to rescue his mate, but was too drunk to remember what occurred.
Bluff, Monday. Isaac Baberfield found the body of a man on the Mokomoko beach to-day. It is supposed to be that of either Scott or Lumson, missing from the schooner Awarua since the 2nd of April last. The body will be sent to Invercargill for the inquest.
