PROTECTION IN AMERICA.
Washington, June 21. The Republican Convention of Chicago has resolved to maintain Protection, and oppose any proposals for exemption of duty on wool, as they would prefer the abolition of internal taxation.
THE BOUCICAULT DIVORCE CASE. London, June 22. Mrs. Agnes Boucicault has proved her marriage to Mr. Dion Boucicault, in New York in 1855, and. she has obtained a decree nisi for the dissolution of the marriage.
FOREIGN WAR SHIPS IN BRITISH PORTS.
London, June 22. In the House of Lords, in replying to the Earl of Carnarvon, Lord Elphinstone stated that the Government were discussing the question of the entry of foreign men-of-war and troop ships into Imperial fortified ports." In the House of Lords, the Earl of Carnarvon advised that the war vessels of Germany and Russia should be absolutely excluded from Imperial fortified ports, and the entrance of French and Italian war vessels should [be limited. Lord Elnhinstone, in reply, stated that it would be impolitic to disclose the present intentions of the Government.
MR. DILLON, M.P. London, June 22. _ After the announcement that, the higher Court had confirmed the sentence passed on Mr. Dillon, M.P., an address of sympathy from 150 members of the House of Commons was presented to him. ..
