BANKRUPTCY.

MEETINGS OF CREDITORS.

R. C. Jordan.—A meeting of the creditors of R. C. Jordan, bankrupt, Tauranga, was held at the Official Assignee's office yesterday afternoon. Mr. Alexander appeared for Mr. Jordan, and Mr. Cotter for Mr. Chadwick. The debtor was examined at some length by Mr. Cotter as to the position of his estate, and his dealings with Mr. Chadwick ; some questions were asked respecting the purchase of.. sheep, and the bankrupt stated that Tanner Bros., Commons, • Morris, and Darley asked him to buy a number of sheep for them, and Commons gave him £200. He spent this money in the purchase, and also other money given by others, nearly £100. One thousand sheep were bought, bub he lost about £27 by the transaction, his son having been delayed in Napier for five weeks. He had London correspondents who fold cheese for him, and he had not made any arrangements with the Tauranga Cheese Factory respecting the sale of cheese. He received a promissory note from Mr. Snodgrass in April last, and had paid it to Mr. Buck to meet an outstanding account, notwithstanding that a judgment had been taken by Mr. Chadwick against him some time previously. It was usual for him to make such transactions as this. Mr. Cotter claimed that the bankrupt should be compelled to draw up a list of his receipts and expenditure for the past six mpn'ths; but the debtor replied that this would be impossible. The debtor, being further examined stated that he had recently sold a horse to Mr. D. Eraser, but he had acted as agent for his wife. Mr. George said he would like to examine Mr. Chadwick as to certain transactions prior to six months ago, if the books, etc. of that period could be produced. Eventually it was resolved, "That the bankrupt be allowed to retain any household furniture belonging to him." J. Foster.—At a meeting of the creditors in the estate of J. Foster, it was agreed, " That the offer of Mr. Fulljames of £500 for the creditors'. interest in the whole estate, except the Kahukuri property, be accepted." A. Forbes.—The creditors in A. Forbes estate met yesterday, and passed the following resolution: —"That Mr. Lawson Bee Mr. Devino, with a view to ascertain if he would be inclined to make some definite guaranteed offer for the business as a

going concern, or if he is prepared to take a reduction of rent; if not, the whole of the assets to be disposed of in Auckland forthwith."
