The barquentine Devonport was yesterday hauled in from the stream and berthed at the inner western tee of the Queen-street Wharf, where she will discharge her cargo of coal until the Jessie moves away from the Hobsonstreet Wharf, where the Devonport will finish unloading^ In order to have the use of the Harbour Board's big crane to discharge some heavy Eieces of ordnance among her cargo, the arque Mercia was yesterday hauled alongside the eastern tee of the Queen-street Wharf.

The Northern S.S. Company's Staffa came alongside the Queen-street Wharf yesterday afternoon, in order to take in cargo for Opotiki, for which port she sails this morning, under command of Captain C. Hopkins, formerly of the Chelmsford. After a long interval in port, the steamer Rowena was yesterday brought down to the wharf, where she is to have a new funnel fitted, in anticipation of being again put in commission.

From Russell the Union S.S. Company's Wairarapa arrived yesterday morning. She brought one passenger. At the Customs yesterday the barque Mercia was entered outwards for London by her agents, the New Zealand Shipping Co. The well-known collier Norval is in port from Russell, with a full cargo of coal, and began discharging at the Railway Wharf yesterday. The N.Z.S. Co.'s ship Waikato, while on her voyage from Napier to London, sighted a vessel of about 150 tons, bottom upwards, on March 21.26"23 N., 46"20 W. The schooner Daisy will shortly load and Bail for the Friendly Islands and Niue. At an early hour yesterday morning H.M.s. Egeria pot up steam, and sailed on a surveying cruise in the direction of Tongatabu._ Captain Nicolas, of the schooner Waiapu, reports having passed the schooner Gisborne proceeding to call at Bay of Plenty ports, and also the ketch Reliance, bound from Gisborne to Whangarei. Yesterday evening about half-past seven the s.s. Wainui arrived from Wellington, with 35 bags of mails and part cargo ex R.M. Aoramri. Mr. Walker, purser, reports that the Wainui left Wellington at 4 p.m. on the 18th inst. Cape Palliser was abeam at 9 p.m. on the same night, and the .steamer passed Portland Island at 3 p.m. on the 19th, and rounded the East Cape at 12.30 a.m. on the 20th. Cape Colville was rounded at 3.50 p.m., and the steamer made fast to the wharf as above. _ She experienced a strong southerly gale with heavy sea to the East Cape, and thence light winds with fine weather to arrival. After an exceptionally smart run of four and a-half days the schooner Gael arrived yesterday evening at 5 o'clock from Lyttelton, and made fast to the Queen-street Wharf. She left on Friday, 15th inst., and had a strong S.W. wind all the way to the East Cape, which was rounded on Monday. Lighter winds prevailed across the Bay of Plenty, and to arrival. The Gael brings a quantity of barley and flour, and has also some freight for the Thames, to which place she will proceed as soon as she has discharged here.

The brigantine Eillan Donan, which left Lvttelton on the 7th inst., and the Seabird, which sailed from Newcastle on the 4th inst., are now overdue at this port, and their arrival is eagerly awaited by their agents.
