New Zealand Herald Office, Saturday afternoon. The Customs receipts to-day amounted to £205 12s Bd. The supply of produce has been below the average ; there has been a. demand for much more of many kinds, particularly for good bacon and hams, butter and cheese, good prices hare been obtained. Fruit has sold at good prices ; not a large supply of local. Poultry have brought fair prices. Pigs sold well. Household effects hare moved off freely at extremely good prices, several pianos have been sold at prices varying from £12 to £38 10s each. Nine auction sales have been held, the whole well attended. On Monday a pawnbroker's sale, at the mart, of unredeemed pledges, etc., from Mr. J. Kae, pawnbroker, it passed off most successfully. There have been four sales of household furniture and effects, pianos, etc. On Monday, at the residence of Mrs. Eyre, Victoria-street; on Tuesday, at Mrs. Perrow'B residence, Orey-street; on Wednesday, at the mart ; and on Thursday, at the residence of the late Colonel Lyon, Park Road, off Grafton Road, at which there was a crowded attendance, smart competition, and high prices were obtained. There have been three sales of poultry, produce, fruit, etc., at the mart, namely, on Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday. Owing to the state of the weather the supply on Friday was much smaller than usual. The following are the lowest and highest prices obtained :—Fiji fruit: Bananas, lid to ljd; pineapples, 10s to 13s per dozen ; oranges, 0s Cd to 6s 6d per case ; cocoanuts, 4s Sd to 8s 3d ; Hobart apples, 4s to 8s per case : local apples, ljd to Sid per lb ; lemons, ssd to Is 4d per doßen ; pereimmoms, 9Jd ; passion fruit, 4d. Fowls, In to Is lOd ; chicks, 7d to lid ; Plymouth rocks (young), is *d; light Bramahs (fine), is 6d; silver Hamburgs, Is 6d to fife 8d;

Cochins, houdans (young), Is 4<l ; goeso, 3s Od to 4s ; no ducks ; turkeys, 2s (3d to 3s 2d ; canaries, 2s to 7s Cd. Pigs, large, 14s; small, 4s 3d to lOs; local potatoes, £2 6s to £3 ; pumpkins. Is Od to 2s; Oamaru potatoes, £2 17s (id to £3 (sacks free); carrots, Is 3d to Is 4d ; onions, id to fd ; mangolds, Od to lOd; bacon, 2d to Ojd; hams, 6Jd to So. Butter: Fresh, in pats, superior Devonshire at 143 d per lb; salt butter, 3Jd to 7Jd (none first-class); cheese, 2d to 4pl; eggs, Is ; honey, 3Jd (in small tins) ; fowl wheat (broken), Is Od ; bran, ss; maize, 3s 4d (small lots). Groceries, &c ,at fair prices. Mn. Alex aitkkn's Weekly Report for the past week, ending Juno 10th.— A fair business has been done; full supplies of all kinds have been received, the greater part of which has been placed. Potatoes (local-grown) have improved ; supply falling oft'. Onions : The market is far over-stocked with Southern, which are arriving by every steamer, and the quality being far from good, immediate sales are necessarv, consequently prices are very low. The supply of poultry was large, and prices on the whole were fair. Pigs: Very few coming forward ; prices high. Butter: A largo supply of fresh ; prices declined ; although quoted at Is, market value at the end of the week was below that price. Salt butter : Good supply ; the greater portion of which was very inferior ; all the prime quality to hand was privately placed at Ojd to OJd, but owing to a permanent fall in fresh butter being at hand, these prices may be soon considered as past ; all the pool quality was not cleared. Eggs fully maintained late prices ; a good supply was received ; more could have been sold. Bacon: Good sells well. Hams are in good demand. Fruit and vegetables : A good supply. Cheese : Fair supply; all cleared. Friday's sale was largely attended, but at some parts of the day competition was rather dull, and the following prices were obtained:— Fowls, poor. lOd to Is each ; good healthy fowls, la 3d to 2s 2d each; roosters, Is 6d to 2s 2d; fancy fowls, various kinds, Is Od to 3s lid each ; ducks, Is lOd to 2s 3d each ; geese, 2s Cd ; turkeys, 2s 3d to 7s each ; nigs, small 'supply and unsatisfied demand, 10s to 12s each ; dead rabbits, lid to Is per pair ; potatoes. Southern £2 15s to £21756 d, local £2 16s to £3 ; onions, Id to Jd per lb, and Is to Is Od per bag ; carrot*. Is M to 2s per cwt; mangolds, lOd to Is; pumpkins, 2s to 2s lid ; turnips, 5d to 9d per dozen ; parsnips, Cd to Is per dozen ; celery, Od to Is ; new potatoes, far too many came to hand, and as the demand is very small, about 3 tons wore entered, while 10 cwt is a sufficient week's supply for the whole town at present, id per lb ; cabbages, Is 6d to 2s 3d per sack ; oats, long Is lOd to 2s, short feed 2s 4d ; wheat, 3s ; chaff, £1 2s Cd to £3 6s ; bran, £4 10s ; sharps, £5 ; kidney seed potatoes, £4 to £4 15s ; potato onions, ljd ; pure bone-dust, £7 10s ; feathers, Cd per lb; pie melons, very scarce, 4s to 5s per cwt ; tea. Is 3d to Is lOd per lb, and 17s to 10s per box; orange wine, Cs; sauce, 6s, sales small; butter, fresh, prime lOd to Is ; medium, 7d to BJd ; salt butter, very prime, OKI to OJd, tendency downward, other kinds 4dtoCd; eggs. Is 2d to Is 4Jd per dozen; honoy, Barrier 3d to Id, Waikato 4d, brisk demand.

Bacon: No really choice was received; demand is good, but prices are not expected to rule high this season ; local sides, Cd to Sd. Hams, sound Sd to Od, badly cured 2d to 4}d ; Canterbury, most of that coming-mis in bad condition, shoulders 2d to 4d, sides 2d to Cd; hams. Id to 4Jd ; this refers to second quality only. Fruit: Good clean apples, local. 2Ju to 3d, small kinds 2d ; stone pippins sold as high as 3d, but 2JUI was about the average price ; pears,cooking 2Jd. dessert, none; lemons, 7Jd to Is. Fiji Fruit: Very little was received, owing to the steamer's short stay at Suva; bananas, ljd to 2d ; pines, 6s per dozen; cocoanuts, 7s per sack; oranges, small cases, is Od to 6s per case. Cheese, new id to sd, factory 6d, old cheese Jd to 3d and 2s 9d per dozen ; any quantity of mild cheese could have been placed at 4jd, "while 6d refers to single cheeses only; sharp cheese is neglected at low prices, no matter how rich.
