[press association.] Invercargill, Friday. At the R.M. Court yesterday Mr. McCulloch gave judgment in the case of L. F. Drew v. Joseph Hatch, a claim for £59 7s Bd, wages due as master of the Awarua, which rescued the Derry Castle survivors while engaged in sealing at Auckland Islands; the defendant pleading a set-off for £117 6s 6d for goods supplied, cash lent, and moneys paid. His Worship, who gave judgment for £12 14s 4d with costs, said that as regarded the set-off the evidence was very conflicting, and in his opinion very unreliable. Dcnedin, Friday. The City Council, against the advice of their solicitors, granted certificates to three married women, to whom the City Licensing Bench granted renewals. The temperance party are moving the Supreme Court to interfere.
