THE OTAGO UNIVERSITY.

[BY TELEGRAPH.—PRESS ASSOCIATION.] Dunedin, Friday. At a Bpecial meeting of the University Council, to consider the Fair Rent Bill, it was pointed out that the University was affected, and stood in a unique position, as the whole of ite income was derived from land. A high school could raise its fees, a harbour board ite dues, a corporation its rates, but the Council had only its rents. It had made fixed engagements and some Professors had been elected for life, and this Bill might result in taking away its means to fulfil its engagements. A committee was appointed to draw up reasons for objecting to the Bill to be submitted to Parliament).
