FIRE AT MASTERTON.
[by telegraph.— association.] Masterton, Wednesday. A pike broke out in a grain store in Fuller-
street at 12.45 this morning. The building, which was owned by Mr. F. Gray, was
completely destroyed, and the contents burned or damaged by water. Insurances : The store was insured for £75 in the New
Zealand Office. The contents, including 530 sacks of oats and 80 sacks of wheat, owned by Mr. Carr, were insured for £275 in the National Office, while 300 sacks of oats belonging to Lowes and Co. were insured for £126 in the National Office. The adjoining cottage, which was damaged, was insured for £100 in the National Office. The origin of the fire is unknown.
