We are passing through exceedingly mild and warm winter weather, sunshine an showers in succession giving fields and nw. tures a spring-like appearance. PloueK and harrowing, sowing grass seed andVe paring the ground for crops is the order of the day, with, I may say, one day m the week, as a rule, given to elections The inquiry into the List election petition revealed great neglect on the part of th* County Council officials, and the members o* the Council should feel the stigma, and do some reparation to the injured ridin" TV Waipu riding was not in harmony before With the Whangarei County Council, and the injury that has been inflicted on the ridin* will widen the breach, and lead to a separation from that county, and a junction with the county of Otamatea. This riding has more in common with Otamatea than with Whangarei. The exchange of commodities between the Waipu and the Kaipara districts is considerable. A market is found there for all our cattle and sheep, besides other produce, while Whangarei takes nothing from us but taxes, and gives back but a poor equivalent. The Gorge Road, which connects Waipu with Otamatea, is in the countv of Whangrarei, and will be a very costly road to keep in repair, on account of its many bridges now getting into decay. The county of Otamatea will have an interest in keeping it in thorough repair, which the Whangarei county will not have. Immediate action is contemplated by the ratepayers to take the necessary steps to have the Waipu riding joined to Otamatea.—[Own Correspondent, Slay 19.]
