Messrs. Arthur and Buddle's Weekly ReroiiT.—Business has been greatly interfered with by the holidays, both in supply and demand. But little produce of any description on hand. Potatoes have been a little firmer. Onions in full supply ; no improvement in price. Local-cured bacon and name sold well: there is a good demand ; a small supply of Southern. Fresh butter sold well; the nupply was small. Good salt butter is wanted,—if of firstclass quality a high prico can bo obtained. Cheese of good quality is in demand. Carrots, pumpkins, etc., sold at low prices. Fruit has not been so plentiful; some of the lota sent had been kept too long, others were very small. Owing to arrivals from Hobart prices have not been quite so pood. Hobart apples sold at low prices; some ripstones were re-sold at 5s to 6s 6d per ease. A small supply of poultry; no ducks entered; the demand was limited, still fair prices were obtained for good birds. Pigs: But few entered ; these were difficult to sell at low prices. There have been two sales held for produce, fruit, etc., on Tuesday and Friday. On Monday there was a sale of drapery, clothing, Ac, at the mart. There was a large attendance, and a good businoss done a* very satisfactory prices. Only one salo of household furniture, &c. this week. That was held at tho mart, on Wednesday. The attendance was good, but bidding was languid. A fair amount of business was done at prices in favour of the purchaser. Messrs. T. Steadman and Co. report, May 28.— Business for the week has been quiet, and prices in some lines have been in favour of purchasers. The market is bare of good salt butter, which sella readily at an advance on previous quotations. The market is also bare of first-class bacon, which is being inquired for, while there is a quantity of second class which is hard to quit at any price. Small cheeses are inquired for of good quality. Potatoes have moved oft" more freely the last few days, at a slight advance. All other produce remains about the same as last week's quotations. Only a small quantity of tea was sold at Friday's sale, the prices offered not being satisfactory to the vendor. The following prices were obtained :—For potatoes, £2 5s to £2 15e per ton ; pumpkins, 2s Bd to 2s 6d per cwt; maize, 2s Od to Ss 4d; oate, feed, 2s 3d to 2h 4d; seed oats, 2s 3d to 2s 6d ; bran, £3 7e Cd to £3 10s ; sharps, £3 17a Gd to £A ; tea, 12s to 14a Od per box. The sale of nursery stock on Friday ■was not well attended, and prices ruled low, which is generally the case at the first salee of the soason, prices generally advancing with tho planting season.
