A SUGGESTION.
TO THE EDITOR. Sir,—After seeing the able manner in which the Auckland Reps, so gallantly upheld Auckland's prowess in the football field against a combined English team, I would suggest that a gold medal, suitably inscribed, be presented to each player, commemorative of the occasion. As the victory was of such a decided character, and one of which Auckland may feel justly proud, it, in my opinion, would be advisable to give all lovers of the game an opportunity to subscribe, so as the souvenir of the match might be of a representative character. Hoping this suggestion will commend itself to the public generally.—l am, etc., J. M. R, May 25, 188 S.
