At .1 o'clock yesterday the s.s. Ohau came in from Dunedin with a large cargo of grain and breadstuff's, and some transhipments per the direct steamer Doric. To Isr. Seigel, the purser, we are indebted for the following particulars of the trip:—The Ohau left nedin on the 16th May ; arrived and left Orimaru on the 17th ; arrived and left Timaru oia the 18th; arrived and left Lyttelton on the 19th, and arrived at Auckland on f,he 23rd, as above. During the trip she experienced light variable winds with fine weather from Dunedin to Lyttelton ; thence fresh westerly winds with moderate sea to East Cape; thence strong head wind, with heavy head sea, which lasted to about midnight of the 22n.1, after which fresh head wind, with moderate sea, prevailed till arrival. The barques Essex and Clifton were yesterday forenoon hauled in to the Railway Wharf and berthed. They are each busy discharging, the former kerosene, &c., and the latter coal. In addition to the two barques mentioned, the Loongana and Elinor Vernon were also engaged in getting out cargo, and the brig Syren was making preparations to discharge her coal. Altogether the Railway Wharf presented an appearance of greater activity than it has for some months past. As her cargo of coal has been purchased by the Gub Company, the brigantine Aratapu yesterday tooK up a position alongside the Hob son-street Wharf for the purpose of unloading. At high tide yesterday the brigantine Crazelle was floated into dock for repairs. portion of her cargo, 250 sacks of copra, was yesterday sold by auction by Messrs. u onks and Co. and found a purchaser at the figure of 92s 6d per ton. Since cin ? out of dock the barque Coul-ca-ivyle has been undergoing a repainting, find will begin to reload her cargo of copra from the hulk Senatoj. As soon as she is full she is to sail for Europe, her first port of call being Marseilles. On the completion of her discharge the "barque Examiner is bo leave for Lyttelton direct, and has space for cargo for that port We learn by telegraph from Opotiki that the ketch Lucy James, owned by Mr. 1). McLeod, of Maraetai, and in charge of his son, was caught in a heavy squall in the Bay of Plenty, during the rough weather which prevailed on Tuesday last. She ran for shelter to the Ohiwa River, and crossed the bar at its month in safety, but afterwards went ashore during Tuesday night. The crew Are bard at work, discharging the ketch to

lighten her, and it is expected she will be got on without permanent injury. _ The barque Clifton, which is at present discharging coal from Newcastle, has been fixed to load timber at Mercury Bay for Melbourne ; while the Loongana is also to take in timber for Australia. Her ultimate port is Sydney, but it has not yet been decided whether she will load at Whangaroa or Man°The s.s. Rose Casey will make her usual trip to-day to Waiwera, Mahurangi Heads, and Warkworth, leaving the Queen-street Wharf. . , , In connection with the recent striking of the s.s. VVainui on a rock off Cape Palliser, it will be seen from a telegram in another column that Captain Cromarty has had his certificate suspended for a month. Shortly before midnight the Northern S.S. Co.'s Wellington arrived from Whangarei, with a large number of passengers, being one day earlier than her usual trip in order to give the residents of Whangarei an opportunity of witnessing the football match. The s.s. Stormbird also arrived last night from Whangarei, bringing an unusually large number of passengers.
