Mrs. Ellen Harding, a well-known hotelkeener, has commenced an action against Constable Smart, of Kaikoura, for alleged slander for utntomonta made by tho constable at a recent licensing meeting. Damages are laid at £200. . Mr.. Jellicoo was retained by the plaintifi. Tho caso comes off at tho next sitting of tho Supreme Court. _____
