scription of lOOsovs each, h. ft. For three-year-old fillies, Ssfc 121b each. The owner of the second filly to roceive 200 sovs out of tho stakes, and tho third to save his stakes. Rowley mile. (64 subscribers.) Mr. Douglas Baird's b f Briar-root, by Springfield—Eglentyne, Sst l'2lb ... 1 Lord Cnlthorpc's ch f Seabreeze, by Iso- . nomySt.-. Marguerite, Bst 121bs ... 2 Mr. C. Perkins' b f Belle, Mahono, by Uncas—Jenny Howlett, Bsb 121b ... 3 . [Briar-root started on four occasions a« a two-year-old, but} only succeeded in winning one of her engagements. This was tho Whitsuntide Plate, run at Manchester, in whice she had a big field of eighteen against her, Ayrshire (who last week won the Two Thousand Guineas) being a hot favourite at 5 to 2 on, while Briar-root figured at 100 to 6 against. In a very close race Briar-root got home a short neck in front of Caorlaverock, Ayrshire being a head behind the latter in third place. Tho value of the stakes was £4725.]
