ELECTION OF SCHOOL COMMITTEES.

panmure. The annual meeting of the householders for the election of a school committee was held in the Parmure district school on Monday. There was a very large attendance. Mr. Thomas Kay was voted to the chair. The secretary of the out-going committee (Mr. A. S. Thompson) read the report and balance-sheet for the past year, which were adopted. In the report the committee expressed their high appreciation of the services of the head teacher, Mr. May, also his two assistants, Miss Murray and Miss Kells ; that the district was very fortunate in getting such a qualified teacher as Miss Murray was. The committee regretted the Board of Education's intention of removing Miss Kells on account of her failing to pass at the late examination. During the ten years Miss Kells has been teaching in j this cchool she has given every satisfac- ! tion. On the motion of Mr. W. Brown, it was resolved, " That the new committee use its best endeavours with the Board of Education to allow Miss Kells to remain in this school, as her removal from the school would be totally against the wishes of the householders." The following were elected a committee for the ensuing year:—Messrs. Thomas Cleary, H. Gollan, A. Jorden, G. Kingsley, J. Pannell, T. Searchfield, and A. S. Thompson. The newly-elected committee held their first meeting immediately after, when Mr. Geo. Kingsley was elected chairman, and Mr. A. S. Thompson secretary and treasurer. tamaki west. The annual meeting of the householders of the Tamaki West district was held on Monday evening, at the school. Mr. Henry Pilkington presided. Mr. J. L. Clark E laced the statement of accounts and alance-sheet on the table, there being a balance in favour of the committee of £3 lis 2d. The annual report was then read, which stated that there were 54 on the roll, but the average attendance had not been satisfactory. The school and offices had been painted and put in good repair, scoria spread on the paths, and some ornamental trees planted and fenced in at a cost of £11 9s. The school fund allowance having been reduced to £6 per annum, was insufficient for the requirements of the school. The report of the headmaster, Mr. McCraken, was most satisfactory. A vote of thanks was accorded to Mr. MoCraken for his report and general management. The following questions were then put to the meeting :— Bible reading in schools desirable ? Answer t No. Is it your wish to curtail the holidays ? Answer : to remain as at present fixed. Should children be allowed to remain at school beyond school age ? Answer: To remain until passed the 6th standard, and if they passed that before school age to remain until the school age is complete. The report and balance-sheet were adopted. Messrs. J. L. Clark, Robt. Menzies, R. Newcombe, T. Atkinson, T. Norris, Morgan Rhys, and Wm. Ireland were elected as a new committee. Mr. J. L. Clark was elected chairman, treasurer, and secretary ; cheques to be signed by the chairman and by Robert Menzies or Thomas Norris. The meeting terminated with the usual vote of thanks. PAPAKURA. At the annual meeting of householders for the purpose of electing a school committee, Mr. Shanaghan was in the chair. The Rev. T. Norrie brought up a report of the past year, also the treasurer's report, showing a balance in hand of £5 17s 9d. The report was adopted without discussion, j The ballot for members of a school committee was taken, and the following were elected: Messrs. F. Fox, 53; C. Wallis. 49 ; T. Norrie, 44; J. B. Young, 43; W. Hall, 34; R. Bryden, 30; G. McMurray, 30, who were declared elected. At the committee meeting the Rev. T. Norrie was appointed chairman, and Mr. Fox secretary. DRURY. The annual meeting of householders was held in the schoolroom. There was not a large attendance. The chair was taken by Mr. J. T. Cossey. The report was read by the secretary, which showed that the last examination of the school was especially successful, and reflected great credit on Captain T. Broun as an efficient and successful teacher, and an important acquisition to the district. The report was altogether of a satisfactory character, and was unanimously adopted, but a warning was given as to the importance of regular attendance at the school. Messrs. J. Mayo, E. Woollams, R. Brooks, S. Cossey, G. Godkin, J. Blackhall, and J. T. Cossey, were elected as a committee for the ensuing year. A vote of thanks was tendered to the outgoing committee. At a meeting of the new committee Mr. Cossey was elected chairman, and Mr. E. Woollams secretary and treasurer.—[A Correspondent.]

Wenzlick, G. Wenzlick, J. Scholium. Mr. Robert Scriven was elected as chairman. NQARUAWAHIA. At the annual school committee meeting, Messrs. Kay, Coombeß, Fitzpatrick, Young, Simmelhag, Reynolds, and Sloane were elected. WADE. At the annual meeting of householders Mr. E. Bond was voted to the chair. After the annual report was read the following committee was elected:—Messrs. Vickers, Lord, Brunton, Bond, Lennan, Moffatt, and Jack. At a meeting of the committee held subsequently Mr. L. Grant, Wm. Hefford, A. Neal, A. J. Shepherd, J. W. C. Smith, and F. C. Uttin. The newly-elected committee met, and elected Mr. W. H. Hefford, chairman, and Mr. Thomas A. WAIROA SOUTH. The annual meeting of the householders of the Wairoa School District was held in the schoolhouse on Monday. There was a very good attendance. Mr. D. Crawford was in the chair. The annual report of the committee was read and adopted. Nino candidates were nominated for the office of committeemen, and the result of the ballot was that Messrs James Bell, Andrew Noble, Daniel Crawford, William Hampton Thorp, Henry Umpton Poynter, Robert Bertram Waterton, and George Atkins were elected. A vote of thanks to the chairman brought the meeting to a close. The newly-elected committee met immediately, and Mr. James Bell was elected chairman and Mr. Andrew Noble secretary and treasurer.[Own Correspondent.]
