MINE MANAGERS' REPORTS.
Cambria.—Cleaning up and retorting for the fortnight took place to-day for the following return : —157 loads of quartz, for 1770z; 162 pounds picked stone, 1950z; 14 loads tailings, 7oz lOdwt: total retorted gold, 3790z lOdwfc ; melted gold, 3730z. The mine manager wired yesterday : —" 101b picked stone from No. 2 slope on No. 7 leader."
New Alburnia.The eastern drive on the hangingwall lode has been extended eight feet, the leading stope 10 feet, the second stope 10 feet, and the third stone 12 feet for the week. No quartz has been broken in the drive during the week. The lode is fully a foot wide in the stopes, the whole of which has been saved for crushing. Fifteen pounds of picked stone were obtained from the stopes. The picked stone is not confined to any particular part of the lode, but is found in small patches of 21b or 31b at a time for the whole length of the stopes. There are now 17 loads of quartz and 581b of picked stone on hand. A start was made to-day to forward the quartz to the mill. Crushing operations will commence on Thursday first. Jobc and party are breaking out good crushing dirt on the hangingwall lode under the company's drive. They also obtain a few pounds of picked stone occasionally. Irwin and party have started to sink on the same lode at the battery level. Climo, Christie, and also Henderson and party arc breaking out fair crushing dirt in their respective blocks, but no picked stone of importance has been obtained by either of these parties since they last crushed.
