KELLYS DIRECTORY.

We have received a copy of Kelly's Directory of the merchants, manufacturers, and shippers of tho United Kingdom. This is a very bulky volume, and is intended as a guide to the export and import shipping and manufacturing industries of Britain. There have been -several previous issues of this work, the one before us being the fourth edition. It is got up and published by Messrs Kelly and Co., 51, Great Queenstreet, Lincoln's Inn Fields, London, W.C., and is issued to subscribers at a very moderate price indeed. It contains altogether about 2000 pages of closely printed mutter, of which only about 176 pages are solely devoted to advertisements. The hook is well got up and substantially bound. It not only provides a directory (classified according to trades, occupations, and professions) of the people in England, Scotland, and Ireland,but. h carefully-compiled account of each country with which Britain has trade relations. The leading features and principal industrial and other resources are detailed, together with the Customs' tariff of each country at the date of publication. The tariff of every British colony is also given when tho colony is doscribed. In the account of each country—British colonies as well as foreign countries—the names of the several Consular officers are stated. It is impossible to give anything like an accurate outline of the contents of the work ; but it may bo truthfully stated it is so arranged as to present in a handy and readily-available form all that business men will in general care to know about distant places. It furnishes the names of the principal merchants and manufacturers in tho several towns of each country, gives the Customs' tariff, late statistics respecting the several branches of trade, &c. Altogether, it is a work which, once introduced into a merchant's office, where an extensivo foreign trade is being done, is likely to be a fixture thero, and each succeeding edition will be eagerly looked for.
