NEW SOUTH WALES LOAN.
[press association.]
London, April. 17. A New South Wales loan of £3,500,000, bearing interest at the rate of 3if per cent, is announced. The minimum has been fixed at 102. Tenders close on Monday. The stock and share market is adversely affected for Australian stocks, owing to the announcement of the New South Wales loan. Sydney, April 18. In the House this afternoon the Colonial Treasurer stated that the Government had not intended floating the new loan till June next, but in consequence of the improvement in Australian stock, the success of Mr. Goschen's conversion scheme, the possibility of complications arising through a European war, and the prospect of the Government requiring large sums for public works, the present time was thought favourable for floating the loan.
