THE TIMBER SYNDICATE.

Mr. George Holdshii , returned from Australia last night by the Rotomahana, he having left with the gentlemen who came over to inspect the properties which were proposed to be sold to the Australian timber syndicate. Mr. Holdship accompanied these eentlemen to Australia in order to give any further information wanted. Mr. Holdship declines to make any statement as to the present position of the negotiations, but we believe that the chances of a sale being effected are very doubtful. It is quite possible that the whole affair may fall through.
