New Zealand Herald Office, Monday Evening. The Customs receipts to-day amounted to £555 3s sd.
MESSRS. Paget and Ralston report a fairly busy week, with no material alteration in the prees of produce. The only alteration worthy of note is the improved price and demand for potatoes, which seem to be very scarce. The following prices were ruling at tho" Friday's market Kale :—Produce: Potatoes, £2 Ids to £is 2s 6d per ton ; onions, i<l to Jd ; carrots, 2s to 2s 9d per cwt. ; pumpkins, is 3d to 2s 6d ; vegetable marrows, Is Cd to Is 10d ; cabbages, Is to 2s Id per sack ; fresh butter, 7}d per lb ; apples, Jd to l}d ; pears, 2d ; passion fruit, -2<l per dozen ; lemons, Is 2d per dozen ; water melons, 7s per dozen; maize, 3s 6d per bushel; oats, 2* 3d ; wheat. 3s to 3s 3d; bran, £3 15s per ton ; sharps, £4 ; cheese, Id to 3id per lb ; bacon, 3Jd to 6Jd ; hams, 4jd to "Id ; corned beef, Jd to lid; honey, 2Jd ; damaged flour, 2s Cd per sack ; oatmeal, 10s per 1001b; flour, 11s 6d.
