BANKRUPTCY.

DEBTOR'S EXAMINATION. Wμ. Stubbing Wilkinson, whose creditors met on the 4th instant, at which a resolution was passed expressing sympathy with the debtor and satisfaction with, lufl conduct, yesterday made the following sworn statement before the Official Assignee:— I am a carpenter by trade, and formerly, up to about three years ago, took email contract building jobs, and paid my way whilst at it, but trade being bad I took to omnibus driving. A friend advanced the money to buy an omnibus and the necessary horses, &c. It was a failure, and after a twelve months' trial I gave it up, and my friend took over the plant, &c., under the security of a bill of sale. Since then I have had occasional work as I could get it, but am at present unemployed, Whilst I was in the. building trade I bought four building lots on the Gladstone estate, and built myself a five-roomed house on one of them, and fenced in the rest. The pur-chase-money for the four allotments was£l 98. I paid down about £36 towards this, and then started on building the house, getting advances on it as it progressed. Thase advances, with the balance of purchasemoney and overdue interest makes the liability on the property at present £313. The property and improvements have cost me close upon £600, without counting my own labour, ami I consider it onght to fetch at least £450 now, or a margin of £137 over the liability. The only other assets I have got consist of furniture, tools, four heifers, two cows, two mares, and three sets of harness, of the total value of £70, on which I have had an advance of £62 10s under bill of sale given about 13 months ago, and this money was spent in keeping up the omnibus service I was then engaged in. My unsecured debts amount to £102 18s 2d, and at the present time, not being able to support my family without assistance from friends, I see no prospect of paying off this liability.
