Masters of vessels, pilots, and others are hereby informed that on and after the 16th day of April pros., the old channel from the entrance of the river up to near S the . ferry punt, known as the Williaraatown Short Road, will be closed for the purposes of navigation. ~ - A new channel further to the eastward has been dredged to a depth of 16ft'at low water, and for a breadth of about 100 ft. at the same depth from a point off the new railway pier, Wllliiunstown, to a point about 400 ft below, the ferry punt landing stage. ■ " ". ••.. . ' .■■ ■ ■■.. «■■• The entrance of the above channel is narked by a black overend cone buoy with staff and ball; and on either side of the channel with black dolphins on the west side and red dolphins on the east. By night a red light will be exhibited on the outer or southernmost black dolphin, and a bright light on every alternate dolphin on the west side of the channel, numbering in all four bright lights, about a cable's length apart. r.j . >.-.*■■. s> On the dolphin at the northern end of the new channel a red light will be exhibited, which will indicate the northern end of the training wall and the present dredged channel. On the outer red dolphin a powerful bright light will be placed, and all lights exhibited from sunset to sunrise. Masters of vessels or pilots in charge of vessels, proceeding up the River Yarra should, as formerly pass the black buoy at the entrance on the port side, and then steer to pass between the red light and the white light on the outer dolphins, taking care to keep well over to the eastern outer dolphin after passing the black buoy at the entrance, and after passing the first white light on the west side of the channel they should steer well over to the western training: wall, in order to keep in the dredged channel of 100 ft wide. j .- ROBERT FULLARTON, ~ . ,v , . By the said Bill it is intended to repeal the Orakei Native Reserve Act, 18S2, to constitute Paora Tu. h&ere Trustee, to arrange for appointment of Trustees in »he event of the death of Paora Tuhaere, to define portions of land to be leased, to arrange for surveys; allotments to be leased by public auction for any terra not exceeding sixty years without bonus or premium, rents and profits to be divided amongst the persons named in the grant, the shares of any dying to go to their successors; streets, roads and public places may be laid out and dedicated ; trustee may raise money on security of rents for construction of roads, wharves, etc ; that leases shall not be subject to payment of native duty. A copy of the said proposed Bill, and a plan of the land to be affected thereby, are deposited in the Resident Magistrate's Court, Auckland, and copies of the said proposed Bill are deposited in the office of the Examiner of Standing Orders, at Wellington.
