In the Manchester Health Lectures for the people, Dr. Ranxonie, Chairman of the Committee Manchester and Sulford Sanitary Association, contributes a lecture Oil "Soils* and Sites," and quotes approvingly the opinion of Dr. Buchanan, Chief Medical Officer to the Manchester Local Government Board, that " Wetness of Soil is the cause of Phthisis (i.e., consumption), to the population living upon it." Hβ also endorses Dr. Haviland's opinion that " Damp Soil is coincident with a high mortality." The Registrar Ueneral of Scotland continued that opinion, and ;s.tlded that: "Houses situated on impermeable soils, or on low-lying ground, and whose sites were consequently kept damp, had a very much larger number and proportion of cases of consumption than towns, villages, or houses which wkkk situated on dry ok kucky OH on light porous SOILS, where the redundant moisture easily ewiaped." -| /» HORSE-POWER GAS ENGINE, I vP Otto Silent, nearly new, for sale, cheap, to make room for increased power.
