THE GOLDFIELDS.

[BY TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT. ] Thames, Friday evening. Mr Peter Hansen* lias purchased Hicks' scction of the Kurunui mine, also from Messrs. A. and G. Price the Kuranui battery. Ho intends to work the ground and battery on his own account. The section purchased includes the Shotover deep lead, and adjoining mines famous in bygone days. Baker and Birch, of Mata Creek, have arranged with Mr. Occrge Fraser, of Auckland, who will erect a plant on the latest principles, capable of treating ten tons i day. It will consist of rollers instead o stampers, and pans will be substituted for berdans. It is to be ready in four months. Tailings from the Paroquet mine, VVaiomo, are being carted to the Herald battery for treatment, probably by the Molloy pans. Several loads of quartz are being carted from the Walk Over mine, near Waiomo (Lowrie's) to the Moanataiari battery for treatment. The last crushing of, I think, a load was very satisfactory, and the gold realised a high price. Diamond.—An extraordinary meeting of shareholders of the Diamond G.M. Co. (Ld.) was held yesterday at the company's oiiice, New Zealand Insurance Buildings, Auckland. The company was fully represented by those present and by proxy. Mr. Charles Ring occupied the chair. Advertisement calling the meeting was read. The following resolution was then put to the meeting, and carried unanimously " That the directors bo empowered to dispose of the company's mine by sale, or to amalgamate it with adjoining claims, as they may deem fit in the interests of the shareholders." A vote of thanks to the chairman closed the proceedings.
