SIR GEORGE GREY'S PROPOSED VISIT TO ENGLAND.

We announced some little time ago that Sir George Grey contemplated an early visit to England, but Ave understand, on good authority, that Sir George does not propose to leave the colony until the close of the coming session of the General Assembly. He will again be present, at Wellington, and will endeavour to obtain the .serious consideration of members for his scheme for acquiring large estates, for the purpose of organising a great national system of settlement of people upon the lands of the colony now almost unpeopled. During his visit to England Sir < icotfge will endeavour, in various ways, to popularise- the colony, and will no doubt come into close communication with Lord Salisbury, to whom he is well-known, about the question of British State-aided migration. Sir George contemplates going to England via America, where he has many friends, and where his name and fame are well known. His relative, Mr. Grey, left by the last mail boat for San Francisco, and will wait in the United States for some months, until the arrival of Sir George. We believe that the absence of Sir George Grey will not be. a very prolonged one, and that prior to his departure some public demonstration will be organised to mark the deep appreciation of his great and distinguished career, and the undoubted services he has rendered to New Zealand.
