[from OUR OWN CORRESPONDENTS]. „ Hamilton, Thursday Mr. George Ldgecumbe, of Hamilton hi« sent, through the Loan and Mc'rcaliti'l" Agency Company, for sale in England, cases of apples, some of the varieties 0 ! which he received first prize at the la/ Waikato Horticultural Show, as the 1 ? twelve kinds for export. the apples , carefully wrapped in tissue paper and in comparatively close cases. Last seaMr. Edgecumbe forwarded apples to KiV'P "l with a result satisfactory, though liot'wMi so. The apples were then not wraijiie Ipaper and packed in the ordinary cam ' ,1 in the colony, with the side bars* u-M apart. The consequence was that A ' motion of the vessel abraded the fruit at t'"" edges of the bars, and a great deal of\> rived in unsound condition. What f- •" however, reached home in a saleable si""'' was worth eightpence per lb. " ate The first parcel of Waikato wheat chased this season is probably tin* «.• r " L. B. The h,'t• the public is getting wearied out with e-n ' certs, fetes, bazaars, gift auctions and o-'l er devices held in every township and ' a ft intervals for church purpose* No oh , useful institution gets a chance'of augment ing its funds by such means for the churches are always in the field. The various so') -s last night were excellently rendered £« Rev. Mr. WWbta.3 -J more even than its usual effect, and the sin-'-ing of Miss Maxwell, a new voice to Hamfi" ton, assisting greatly to the success of the concert.

The Cambridge team to play Hamilton at Tamahere on Monday will be ciios«m rom the following :—\\ ilson, Angus, Hall CM vert Hunter, Case, McVeagh, Rutherford Stubbing, Hunt, Forrest, U. Garland ami Tyer. It is doubtful whether Hamilton will manage to raise a team, as most of the principal players will be attending the N"u,. ruawaliia races. ° ' [BY TELEGRAPH. — OWN CORRESPONDENT.] Hamilton, Wednesday. The Rev. Mr. L)ellow left to-dav for 1113 charge at Greytown. Mr. (Jomrie, 'in charge of the Presbyterian congregation here, who is removing to Duuediu, was to have kit with him but cannot.

TE KOPURU. A concert and lecture, in aid of the funds of the Anglican Church, was given in the Kopuru Hall, on Monday, March 19. There was but a very poor' attendance of the public. Songs were given by Messrs. Philips, Morath, Hardy, ana Lindley, also a selection by the choir. The Yen. Archdeacon Dudley then gave a highly interesting lecture on " Reminiscensesof Bishop Sehvvn." The lecturer evidently threw his whole heart and soul into his subject, and kept the attention of his audience for upwards of two hours. If the clergy would condescend to deliver discourses in this style, in place of threadbare sermons, the deep depression from which the Anglican Church is suffering in this district might soon be removed. A single lecture of this sort produces a greater moral effect than a hundred sermons.

The drought with which we were again threatened was effectually removed by a tremendous downpour of rain, lasting for twelve hours. It is calculated that seven inches of rain fell during this time. Enormous ravines have been made by the rain in the sandhills at the coast. The pastures are now green again. The fires from which the whole country has been suffering affected us here also previous to the rain. For days together we would be enveloped in smoke.—[Own Correspondent.] ' „
