Brown.—A special meeting of creditors in this estate was convened by the Official Assignee. This case had been before the Supreme Court. The object of the Assignee was to take measures to secure a sum of money placed to the credit of the bankrupt's wife in a bank at Wellington, which she claimed to be her own. An interpleader summons was issued, and no decision was given pending the issue of this trial at Wellington. The object of the meeting was to ascertain whether the creditors would vote money for the prosecution of the claim. There was, however, no quorum of the creditors, and the meeting lapsed. Tlie debtor, an old settler, 75 years of age, a farmer at Waiuku, got into difficulties merely through depression of the times. The creditors hai already expressed a wish that he should not be troubled, his case being one of pure misfortune, and they were quite satisfied with his promise that he would pay his debts if ever he was in a position to do so.
