CRICKET. GORDON" V. UNITED. United won the toss, and sent the Gordon in to bat on a wicket which was decidedly a bowler's. Kissling and Moresby started for the blue and gold, and both soon got well set. Change after change was tried, and Mumford at last enticed Moresby out of his ground, and was neatly stumped by Harvie. He had played well for 25, including two grand leg draws for 4 and 5. Kissling was soon after bowled off his leg by Hawkins, for a steadily compiled 42. Williams also performed well for 23, but was a little bit lucky. H. Kissling, b Hawkins, 4'2 ; P. Moresby, st Harvey, b Mumford, 25 ; N. Williams, c Mumford, b Hawkins, 23; Lusk, not out, 5 ; extras, 2 ; iotal for 3 wickete, 97. FOOTBALL. The annual general meeting of the Gordon Football Club was held at the Imperial Hotel on Saturday evening. There was a very fair attendance in spite of the inclemency of the weather, between 20 and 30 being present. The report and balanceBheet showed that the club had a fairly satisfactory season. The following officers were elected for the ensuing season :—President, Dr. Posnett: captain, Mr. E. M. McCausland ; secretary, Mr. J. J. Poland ; committee, Messrs. C. Z. Claytori, and R. B. Lusk, with captain and secretary ; delegates to Association, Messrs. McCausland find Poland. The following new members were elected :—Me3srs. Mavnard, G. Dixon, J. Wilson, R. Masefield, G*. W. Booth, S. W. Von Sturmer, A. Mathieson, G. Pardington, G. Campbell, A. Binns, R. J. Hoskings, W. B. Hackett, S. W. Bedlington, Is. Murray, A. Cooke, Smart (2), Belcher, Walker, P. Gibbs, Clutsam, W. Scott, G. Luek, W. L. Hunter, and McDermott. Yeeterday Mr. G. Dixon, the secretary of the Auckland Rugby Union, receive.! a letter from Mr. Illingworth, who is acting as agent in this colony for Mr. James Lillywhite, stating that the dates fixed for th«* matches between the English team of footballers and the local men were the 19th and 24th May. These days will be found very suitable, as in neither case will they interfere with the business arrangements of the public or the players, as the 19th falls on a Saturday, while the 24th will of course be a-public holiday in honour of the Queen's Birthday. Among the passengers from the oouth yesterday by the Wairarapa was Mr. J. A. Warbrick, who has come up to make arrangements with the local Union in regard to the playing of the match here between his native team and the Englishmen. The jdate ifl, however, not fixed.
