OHINEMURI COUNTY COUNCIL.

[by (telegraph.—own correspondent.] Paeroa, Saturday. The Ohinemuri County Council met to-day, all the members being present except Mr. . Corbett. After preliminaries outward correspondence was read inter alia from various persons in reference to the vague definition of the northern boundary of the Ohinemuri County, which leaves it undecided as to which county the Marototo goldfield is in. Inward correspondence was read from Messrs. Lindsay Jackson, Major Peel, and Percy Smith, in reference to the alleged fencing in of theHikutaia-Marototo-Whanga-mata Road. The latter stated that 110 dedicated road existed there. From the Under-secretary for the Mines Department, stating that no funds were available for aid to prospecting. From the Chairman of the Raglan County Council requesting the cooperation of the Council in obtaining special powers for local bodies to enable them to compel owners of land to eradicate gorse, furze, thistle, and other noxious weeds: Agreed to. From Mr. N. Kenny, resigning his position as valuer: Accepted. Mr. L. Jackson was appointed at 15s per diem. £60 was granted for repairs to the Waihi Road, on the application of Mr. Seymour George and others. It was stated that the Waihi Gold Mining Company would supply the county's moiety of £150 for the Waihi roads, to be subsidised by the Government by a similar sum: Agreed to. A bridge over j the Owharoa waterfall was ordered to be I erected at a cost not exceeding £10. Some correspondence was read, from which it was inferred that the gold revenue and fees accruing from the Tui Creek mine, Te Aroha, due to this county, had been wrongly allocated to the Piako County. It was ordered that the Receiver-General be written to on the matter. . A special meeting was then held re the proposed £1100 loan. It was resolved to advertise the County's intention of raising the loan, and to call public meetings in each riding on the 13th April, the poll of ratepayers to be taken on the 25th April. j' The Council then adjourned.
