NEW BOOKS.

We have to acknowledge the receipt of a number of new books from the well-known publishers, Messrs. Blakie and Son. They are everything that could be desired as specimens of printing and binding, while the illustrations and the quality of paper are excellent. Brookes; "The.Rover's Secret: a tale of the Pirate Cays and Lagoons of Cuba," by Harry Colling wood; " Girl Neighbours, or the Old Fashion and the New, by Sarah Tytler; "The Bubbling Teapot: a Wonder Story," by Mrs. Lizzie W. Chainpney ; '' Miss Willowburn's Offer," by Sarah Doudney ; " The War of the Axe, or Adventures in South Africa," by J. Percy-Groves ; "A Pair of Clogs, and other Stories for Children," by Amy Walton; "Chirp and Chatter, or Lessons From Field and Tree," by Alice Banks. We have also received from the same publishers two numbers of Gordon Browne's series of old fairy tales, viz., "Beauty and the Beast" and " Hop o' My Thumb," copiously illustrated with coloured pictures.
