THE ENGLISH CRICKETERS.
[press association.] Sydney, February '24. A cricket match was commenced to-day between Lillywhite's team and a new Australian eleven. The Englishmen went in first, and were disposed of for 173. Shrewsbury, 51 ; Preston, 27 ; Pongher, 22 ; Ulyett, 18, were the principal scorers. Turner took 5 wickets and TroM> three. There was only a small attendance, and the wickcb was in moderate condition. Tlio game - was frequently interrupted by rain showers.
Later. The Australians have lost three wickets for 21 ; Jones, not out, 10.
