POLICE COURT.—Saturday. [Before Mr. H. O. fieth Smith, E.M.J Drunkenness.—Hugh Given, on remand, was charged with this offence, and was fined 10s and costs. Luther Martyn, for a third offence within three consecutive days, wat mulcted in a penalty of £5 and costs, or in default, fourteen days' imprisonment. Boons and Vagabond.—Alice Oleen wai charged with being drunk, and also with being a rogue and vagabond, within the terms of the Police Offences Act. She admitted both charges, and was sent to Mount Eden for three months with hard labour. Driving Ovbr Railway Link.—John Wilson was charged with a breach of the Public Works Aot by driving over a level crossing of the Auckland'Waikato Railway at Penrose while an engine was approaohing, Mr Theo. Cooper appeared for the Department, but defendant admitted the charge. A fine of 5a and coats was imposed. Breaking Windows. — Fong ¥ee, a Chinaman, was called to answer the charge of breaking seven panes of glass, the property of Meeere. Garrett Broe. Sergeant Pratt intimated that he had received a letter from Messrs. Garrett Bros, stating that the defendant had paid for the damage done, and he believed the act was done under considerable provocation. Under these ciroum« stances the police bad no objection to withdraw the charge. Bis Worship accordingly discharged the defendant.
