WAIKATO DISTRICT AND HOSPITAL AID BOARD.
[BY TELEGRAPH.—OWN CORRESPONDENT.] Hamilton, Wednesday. The Waikato District and Hospital Aid Board met to-day. Present Messrs. W. A. Graham (chairman), Primrose, Seddon, Swynneth, Chepmell, McDonald, and Hunter. Mrs. Skinner's offer of 10s per month, In reduction of hospital charges incurred by her husband, was accepted. Es per week was granted to Sarah Harper. Mr. D. Robertson, contractor for the Waiteti contract, forwarded a donation of £10. Mr, J. B. Whvte, M.H.R., offered a piece of his land at Frankton as a site for the hospital buildiags for £35 per acre. The Commissioner of Crown Lands wrote to say that the titles of the various endowments were being prepared, The secretary was instructed to write to all the local bodies inquiring lands in their iistriota had been set apurt for hospital endowment. The secretary was also instructed to write to the Colonial Secretary for any money accrued under section 4, clause 88, the Hospital and Charitable Aid Act, 1886. The chairman stated that the total number of patients treated to date was 35, and that the sums doe by the different local bodies •mounted to £31 9s lOd. Accounts to the ixtect of £151 4« 6d were passed for payBent. It was resolved that the consideration of the question of sums due to St. Mary's Orphanage and the Kohimarama School be deferred till next meeting, The Chairman moved, "That the Board decides that the pfenent site is the most suitable one for a hospital, and that steps be taken to complete ■w purchase." An amendment was moved b y Mr. Gwynneth, "That the matter be postponed for the new Board to discuss." Ihe amendment was lost, and the original motion was carried. The chairman moved 'hat the Government be urged to insert in *U contracts a clause to compel contractors to provide an aocldent fund, in order to secure " fety to workmen, and assist in talning hospital treatment for accident ases. This woa seconded by Mr, Chepmell, •ad was carried.
